I am a little confused as to what Firebase Analytics counts as a new user. I may or may not be right here but from what I understand if a user downloads my app they then count as a new user then if they uninstall it and reinstall it they count as another new user so they have now been double counted?

Hi!

This isn't my specialty, so take this with a grain of sand. I believe, based on talking this over with some savvy engineers, that for Firebase Analytics, a "user" is synonymous with an instance of the application. After an uninstall/reinstall, the device/app would be considered a separate user. Also, if one human has two devices, the instance on each device is considered a separate user.

Looks like this was also answered on Stack Overflow here, which makes me more confident that I haven't mucked up the details : )

I hope that helps!

P.S. If it's not offensive to your culture or beliefs, I'd encourage you to introduce yourself! We are a close-knit family. It's easier to keep that culture strong when we remember that there are real people on the other end of our emails. Getting to know one another by name is a great first step.
