Hi Firebasers,

Today I’m excited to announce that Firebase has joined Google! You can read about the details on our blog and on Google's blog.

I wanted to take this opportunity to personally say thank you!

As active members of our community since the beginning, you’ve had an essential role in making Firebase what it is today. Thank you for being the first to try many of our beta features, for reporting bugs and providing reliable repros, and for giving invaluable feedback which made our APIs that much better. Your constant encouragement and the great apps your build inspire us to keep making Firebase better.

I want to reiterate a point I made in the blog post: Firebase is here to stay and grow. You can continue to count on the same great development experience, tools, libraries, and community commitment that have become synonymous with Firebase.

Thank you again for your commitment to the Firebase community. We are excited to continue providing the APIs and tools you need to keep building great things!

Happy Coding!

James, Andrew, Vikrum, Michael, Greg, Rob, Sara, Alex, Megan, Chris, Tony, Jacob, Ossama, David, Joey, Kato, Kat, Matt, Mike, Jenny, Ali, Tom & Jonny

Congrats to the Firebase team! I hope after joining Google, Firebase can still stay close to its developers like it has always been. Can't wait to see what comes next!

Um, wow! How timely, given my recent issues on this list with limited Firebase.dart support and wondering if I should go with Google Cloud Datastore instead, but knowing that one con is that I'd have to wire up all the realtime syncing myself.

Congrats James, Andrew and team. This makes so much sense. As someone who is all-in building a startup on Google technologies like Dart, Polymer and Cloud Platform, I evaluated Cloud Datastore but Firebase was simply so much more accessible and let me get realtime data storage and syncing taken care of so that I could get back to the stuff that matters. Bringing this all together in a cohesive, supported way is a force to be reckoned with.

Does this mean I might see more support for the Dart version of the Firebase library? Will Datastore evolve to be more like Firebase? I guess time will tell. I have immediate needs and some issues w/ Firebase.dart, but this has me optimistic and I sure hope I can stick w/ it.

Congrats again.

Wow, congrats. I kind of liked the fact that you guys were independent and not part of one of those huge corporations, but I guess no biggie :).

These blogs entries are hardly enough to describe the hard work that has gone into creating Firebase.  Congratulations guys and gals on the Firebase team.  I hope this means that together you can push your programing model further, and allow you to go after new markets. :-)

Very Exciting.

Thanks, Olivia! We're here to stay.

The Google Cloud Platform is an important and growing business for Google and they were impressed by the technology, team and community of developers we’ve built. James and Andrew spent a lot of time with leaders of the Cloud Platform team and we plan to keep adding new features and capabilities, so stay tuned for 11/4.

Cheers,
Kato

David -

Thanks for your note. We're planning on working closely with Google technologies and others too (Ember, React, iOS etc)

On the Dart point specifically, hopefully we can use our new connections to get someone on the Dart team to help us out.  :)

Warmly,

James

Great news and congrats! That is one amazing journey. I would love to see future integrations with the Google Cloud Platform.

One thing, I have to ask is if this changes your priorities on the C#/.Net platform. I know you guys were working on an SDK for that. We use Firebase in our iOS app and love it! We are developing a new app in Xamarin and would want Firebase SDK support for it.

thanks,
-kostub

Hi Kostub,

Thanks for the encouragement! .NET is definitely still on our radar. We will continue to remain agnostic to platform and our goal is still to support all major languages. If anything, joining Google should allow us to roll out features faster and with greater scale. I'll add your vote for the next road map planning session!

Cheers,
Kato

Thanks Olivia!

Absolutely -- we'll still be as involved as ever in the community. You'll see James, me, and the rest of the team around at events, on github, etc.

Thanks David!

Our ability to work more closely with these technologies was a big part of our decision to join. I don't have specific roadmap updates at this time, but we're doing everything we can to provide a great, cohesive experience across all of these products.

Thanks again for your support!
