Hi everybody and firebase official mates. I am an android developer, and now I am developing backup function for my app. I want to use google drive to backup user's media files produced by my app. But I found the terms of service said :
The Drive API is not allowed for certain use cases without Google’s express prior written consent, including the following:
So I am really confused, as many famous apps use google drive to backup. I wonder if I can use google drive to backup user's media files, or I can only use firebase storage? Anybody has some advice, or could staff member reply me? I don't see any contact link for Google Drive Team, so I can only ask question here.

Thank you for your time.

Hello,

I believe those terms and conditions on the Drive API are new. You're right that many apps (most famously WhatsApp) used Drive for backup in the past. It sounds like you'll need consent from the Drive team to do that going forward, but I'm not familiar with that process.
