Disclaimer: I'm very new to firebase.

I've created an app and I want to import a JSON file into my database. The problem I am having is that the 'browse for file' button does nothing when I click on it. I am referring to the Database section of the Firebase console page.

There is an error in the Chrome dev console

Am I missing something?

You're not missing anything, a file picker should appear when you click on that button.  If you don't mind telling me, what operating system and browser are you using?  Versions of each would be really helpful as well.

A bug is open for this and we are looking into it. Sorry for the trouble! In the meantime, you will have to try a different browser or use the SDK to upload a JSON file.

I'm having the same issue. Chrome 51.0.2704.103 m, Windows 10.

I just tried Microsoft Edge, and it worked fine. Come on, Google!

Hi Nicholas,

When you say, "Come on, Google!" I'd encourage you to keep in mind that you are not directing this at some nameless entity, but at the group of passionate developers building Firebase. These are the same developers currently doing their best to answer your questions and provide you with an great experience, in addition to building this awesome platform.

We are all part of a pretty amazing community, dedicated to helping each other. One of the greatest aspects of our extended family is the safe and inclusive atmosphere of the social channels. I could use your help keeping it that way!

☼, Kato

Microsoft Edge worked for me too.

I'm having the same issue in Chromium on Ubuntu (Version 51.0.2704.79 Ubuntu 16.04 (64-bit))

The workaround was pretty simple for me: Hitting the button on my touchscreen worked, while using the mouse pointer didn't.

This does not work for me, neither on Chrome (54.0.2840.71 m) nor on IE 11.
I select the json file that I want to upload and it never uploads. This is so frustrating. Why not just provide a way to create and edit a json file within the console? I am disappointed.
