Problem with firebase custom domain for email templates at godaddy

Hi guys,

I'm already using with success my custom domain with firebase. But, now I'm setting the custom email templates for password reset and firebase requires new DNS entries to verify my custom domain to no-...@mydomain.com

For this purpose, firebase requires 3 entries. The first and third was easy. But, I'm not being able to edit the second one: smtpapi._domainkey.www.mydoamin.com at godaddy.

When I try to add this entry, it always throws than a unexpected error occurred and then I should try later. But, all the other entries I can edit with no problems. When I put an '_' before the host entry like _smtpapi._domainkey.www.mydomain.com it works with no problem to add the entry, but, firebase stills not being able to verify the domain.

Does anybody knows what I could do to configure this domain validation to custom emails templates?

Hi Felipe,

First of all, I'm fairly certain you need to remove the www. from that key. @ stands for your apex domain, not a subdomain. I'd also try entering it as just smtpapi._domainkey and also smtpapi._domainkey.@ as shown. Not really sure which format GoDaddy accepts.

If that's not working, I'd try reaching out to their support for help here. They will know the best way to tweak this.

If they aren't helpful, let me know. I may be able to pull a string or two.
