Is there any plan for Firebase to refresh Oauth providers access tokens (such as Facebook, Microsoft, Twitter, ...) ?
This feature would be (very) useful to access their APIs without the user having to resign (in a PWA application for example).

Hi Charles,

What do you mean by refreshing the OAuth provider access tokens? The way Auth works internally is that your OAuth provider creates the token and manages it (not us) and you hand it back to Firebase to prove your credentials. Then Firebase exchanges the OAuth providers token for a Firebase Auth ID token (our own version of the credential).

The Firebase Auth ID token is refreshed automatically under normal circumstances. So if that's not happening, then we should get a repro over to support for them to investigate.

If you're talking about refreshing the OAuth provider's token (including the one from Google auth) then that's handled at their end and managed by their own privacy policies, so not much we can do here (although individual providers may have their own API methods or config settings to manage that).

Hello Kato and thank you for your response,

I should have sent my request directly to support as it is an feature request.
So I corrected my error by contacting support and have an exchange with Alan (ref:_00D1Ux0Jq._5001URK37x:ref).
For information, it is about that Firebase takes in charge the refresh of the OAuth provider's token.
If my request leads to interesting informations for the Firebase user community, i will do my best to provide the information in this thread.

Thank you and again my apologies for expressing a feature request in the discussion group.

Thanks for sharing both the feature request and your progress! Both are fine for this list.
