None of my Firebase apps working in Chrome, overnight.

"WebSocket connection to 'wss://APP.firebaseio.com/.ws?v=5' failed: WebSocket is closed before the connection is established. "

Gets output into my Chrome console.. I can't even log into http://APP.firebaseio.com -- hangs indefinitely trying to load.

Safari loads my apps + Firebase backend fine. Affecting 3 of my apps.

Any insight as to what's going on? I'm usually the one to blame in situations like this, but I didn't make any changes to any of my apps and they weren't acting like this last night

Hi Jordan,

This WebSocket error generally occurs when you are behind a firewall or proxy, or using a device which doesn't support web sockets. It shouldn't prevent your browser from connecting, as Firebase will then fall back to a long polling strategy.

I will follow up with you on the support list about your connectivity issues. Hang in there!

As a general note to others coming across this archive, there are several diagnostics you can try first that will help you decide if this is a problem with your Firebase instance or localized to your network or code:

1) Open the diagnostic in your browser: http://www.firebase.com/test.html

2) ping INSTANCE.firebaseio.com

3) tracert INSTANCE.firebaseio.com

4) curl -v https://INSTANCE.firebaseio.com/foo/bar.json  (foo/bar should be an empty ref that returns null)

5) If it's not too annoying, try a different computer and if possible, a different network
