As of this morning it appears Firebase refreshed the look and feel of its browser-based database viewer view for Realtime Database (the font and icons are different). Previously Firebase would load all keys in the browser and they were ordered alphabetically - now they only load a subset and only the visible keys are searchable when using CTRL+F.

Is this a bug or feature? I rely heavily on the web browser database viewer as part of my daily workflow and this new look/feel seems a much worse user experience.

Hello,

Thanks for reporting this! I filed a bug internally and confirmed that the lack of alphabetically sorted keys in the new data viewer was definitely a mistake. We already have a fix in place and it should roll out shortly.

As for the "CTRL+F" differences, that is intended behavior. The new data viewer uses 'virtual scrolling' to improve performance and allow more real-time use in large data sets.

Hopefully once the sorting fix rolls out you'll be able to improve your workflow, but let me know if not!

- Sam
