Deploy error: HTTP ERROR 409: [object Headers] Couldn't process request (status=409)

In the last few days I get deploy errors with one of my projects.

I turned on debugging and it seems the deploy goes well for a while, uploading files, but then at one point I start to get errors:

[hosting][upload] ... ERROR 409: [object Headers] Couldn't process request (status=409)

and the deploy fails.

Looks like the problem occurs since Apr. 30.

Was there a new firebase release on that day which could have introduced an error?
