Hi,

Will Firebase support 4 digit codes for phone auth, instead of 6 digit?

Obviously there are security concerns, but we've found that 4 digits is the perfect memorable amount, while 6 digits causes more errors and lower conversion.

It would be great if developers could choose how many digits to use. On Twilio for example, they allow 4-10 digits.

Thanks,

Hi Peter,

Thanks for the request! We don't have plans in the short-term to support 4-digit codes but I can see why it might be a popular choice for some apps and we'll look into supporting the use case in the future. Just as a heads up, the Firebase support channel (https://firebase.google.com/support/) is a great way to file feature requests.

Thanks Dev. Just filed a feature request as well.

It would be great if you guys considered it before the September 30 deadline for Digits shutdown. I'm sure there are many companies like ours who are using the transition to evaluate the various options on the market. We've decided that 4-digits is a must for our next provider. It would make life much easier if we could just use Firebase, rather than having to switch to something like Twilio or Nexmo.

Cheers,

-peter

Agree with Peter. A 4 digit option would be a must for us also.

Also being able to modify the SMS template to allow you to insert your products name would be nice.
