Firebase event attribution

Hi All,

Is anybody aware of the exact criteria that makes a certain event count as a conversion and appear in  Attribution count in Firebase Analytics? In our case we have a single adwords network and for some "sign up" events for example I can see in BigQuery that certain of those events have parameter "firebase_conversion". The events having that parameter seem to appear in the Attribution tab in Firebase and the rest are excluded.

Developers can identify their conversion events in the Events tab in Firebase Analytics. The right-most column says "Mark as conversion".  first_open and in_app_purchase are automatically and unconditionally marked as conversions for you.

My first question is : Was this event always marked as a conversion or is it possible that some events were logged by instances of your app before you marked the event as a conversion?
