Hi,

Is it currently possible to preload the firebase ml kit models into the app so that the models do not need to be downloaded when the user opens the app. According to the documentation, only custom models can be preloaded into the assets folder of the app. Many of our users have slow internet and download the app at a place with wifi but first open the app and use it later when

If the firebase models cannot be preloaded, are their any equivalent open source tensorflow models available to be used as a replacement of text recognition and barcode scanning?

Thanks.

Hi Akil,

I'm assuming you are referring to the Android implementation, correct? One option is to have the model download at app install time. See step 3 here:

Hi Sachin,

Yes, i'm referring to the android implementation, the model is being downloaded at install time currently, but i have found that for some users google play services doesn't download it if the user has low amount of free memory left (there is enough space for the model download and unzipping), sometimes it also does not download the models until the data is cleared from google play services from the settings app.

Thanks.
