SOC 2 on Firebase

Hi, Is Firebase service covered in GCP's SOC2 or does Firebase has its own SOC2? I'm running a financial institution in Japan where the security is of the regulator's biggest interest, and we are currently considering to use a Firebase in our service. Thank you!

Hello Nao,

Firebase is a suite of 15 products. Many of these are Cloud products and covered under the GCP terms. Note that even within Cloud, which products are covered by SOC varies, and you should carefully review the list of products certified. 

For Firebase, there are several products that are separate from GCP and have their own terms of service; they do not carry the same certifications as GCP (Analytics and Realtime Database come to mind) . It's unlikely that we'll have 100% of the products covered in the near future, so you should carefully review the Firebase terms of service.
