Dynamic Link using custom domain

My main question is: How do I "apply" the custom domain after setting it up in Hosting, so that it is used in Dynamic Links?

We don't use hosting so I did not have that configured when I created the first Dynamic Link. Once I did that to see what the short URL looks like, I realized I wanted something better and someone told me that Dynamic Links can use a custom domain setup in Hosting.

We use Netlify hosting, so I hadn't setup Firebase Hosting or a custom domain yet. Anyway, now I have setup the custom domain which is listed as "Connected".

I had hoped that once the custom domain was setup that any newly created Dynamic Links would use it, but that is not the case.

Please advise. Possibly this is a bug, or at least a flaw that Dynamic Links assumes Hosting custom domain would be setup first?
