My first Firebase app is a basic project/task tracking and I successfully set up listeners and ui updates using examples in the docs.

I am new to bi-directional data binding and am exploring 2 other approaches for future projects.

1) AngularJS

This is (Boris Moore's) companion product to jsRender. Boris works for Microsoft and was originally involved with MS/jQuery efforts to develop a jQuery plugin before jQuery decided to consider other options.

My question is whether Firebase will play well with jsViews since I see mention of jsObservable as a base for jsViews.

Thanks

I'm no domain expert here, but between the two, why not just use Angular?

That's what we did in your situation.

It's really fun to develop against and is very well supported by Firebase.

Good luck with your project.

Just out of curiosity: Did you use AngularJS or AngularFire?

AngularJS. AngularFire wasn't really ready at the time we made the decision.

John -

I don't have specific experience with jsViews. You'll likely need to build a shim between Firebase and the models in jsViews. This is what we've down with Angular and Backbone.

Angular is by far the most popular JS framework being used with Firebase right now, and we have an officially supported binding called AngularFire.

If you do go the jsViews route, we'd love to hear how it goes!

Thanks Andrew, I will be looking further into Angular since it is supported. I've bought a book and the story of Google's first use is impressive. If the shim needed for jsViews that you refer to is more that firebase callbacks triggering the observable data, it probably is above my pay grade.

Thanks again,

John
