Hi!

First: Firebase is a great product! We love it. The only problem we have is, that we might no use it anymore for our projects in europe due to the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Enforcement date of GDPR is the 25 May 2018 - "at which time those organizations in non-compliance will face heavy fines". The major topic concerns the data storage within the EU (which is not given at the moment).

We would really need a very reliable commitment and exact time schedule from firebase to know if we still can use firebase for projects within the EU.

It's just a few months more until GDPR will be reality and from the current point of view we unfortunately can't use firebase anymore without facing fines after March 25th.

Thanks for your feedback!

kind regards
Mathias

Hi!

We've actually added a FAQ entry on GDPR, please take a look: https://firebase.google.com/support/faq/#privacy

To answer your specific region question: Some Firebase services allow you to choose your region. But all Firebase services are certified by Google under the Privacy Shield Framework.
