If you open your browser devtools and go to the network tab you should see a request come up as soon as you click "Done". Maybe there's a more helpful error message in the response to that request?

Same here. I contacted support about this but they say it takes a couple of business days for them to reply. :/

Hey folks. Apologies to everyone who is affected by this problem. It seems some permissions and settings are not applied anymore due to a change in a downstream system that Firebase depends on. Our engineers are investigating and will create a fix, but that may take a while to land. 

In the meantime our support team has documented a workaround, which I also posted on https://stackoverflow.com/questions/74750161/why-i-receive-an-error-while-creating-firebase-storage. It's rather involved, so leave a comment or suggested edit if you find a way to simplify it. 

We're also putting a banner on the Storage panel in the Firebase console to notify everyone, and link to the workaround for now.

The change that seems to have caused this error has been rolled back. If the error persists for you please reach out to Firebase support for personalized help in troubleshooting.
