App distribution gradle

Hi, I am trying to distribute an apk which is already signed. But even I set apkPath property in firebaseAppDistribution{} it still is trying to build a new apk by itself.
So my goal is 

1) Build signed apk (separately from Firebase plugin)

2) Set path to the apk and distribute it using the plugin

Is it curenlty possible?

The best way to do this is to implement the Firebase CLI or use fastlane. I'd personally lean toward fastlane: https://firebase.google.com/docs/app-distribution/android/distribute-fastlane

Here you can set your apk_path and upload a specified pre-built APK.
