Auth's implementation is stubbed out on the desktop.  We're going to be improving it shortly with a stub that doesn't throw exceptions but it will still not actually contact our backends.

Using the DB in the editor requires setup with the service account, see here:

Cheers,
Stewart

Thank you!

The function shown in the link did not exist. (FirebaseApp.DefaultInstance.SetEditorDatabaseUrl)

but I solved the problem with Firebase.Unity.Editor.FirebaseEditorExtensions.SetEditorDatabaseUrl().

The method is an "extension method".  This means to use it as documented, you will need declare the namespace "Firebase.Unity.Editor" as a using statement previously in your source.  As in:

using Firebase.Unity.Editor;  <== you need this

. . .

FirebaseApp.DefaultInstance.SetEditorDatabaseUrl();  <== now you can call SetEditorDatabaseUrl() as if it were a method on FirebaseApp.

Why you can't just let editor auth contact your backend?

It so hard to test login and custom token in editor

Firebase is a mobile SDK, we don't currently support auth on the desktop / in the Unity editor.

Stewart

At least it has REST api so the SDK should be able to mock that even just in editor

Yep, everything is possible it's just a matter of time :)

Our focus is mobile, that said we're always working on improving the SDK.

Is the new desktop workflow update overcome this problem?

Hi Thaina,

Yes with our 4.5.0 release you can login with Firebase Auth in the editor (runtime mode) and even in editor plugins.

Cheers,
Stewart
