Exception com.google.firebase.database.DatabaseException: Expected a List while deserializing, but got a class java.util.HashMap

My firebase database structure is '  userId -> [array of events] '. While reading the data, everything seems to be fine, but suddenly one day it started giving me this DatabaseException error. I removed persistence enabled flag and it started working fine. Next day I added persistence enable true flag, it continued working fine. Can't figure out the issue. Please help!!

I am facing the same issue. I checked the link provided below, it seems to be the same type of error. The keys are numeric.
