In-app purchase ads in Unity with AdMob

I can see that "Note: The plugin currently only supports IAP ads on Android. iOS support is not yet available."

Are IAP ads not being available on IOS only missing from the Unity plugin or are IAP Ads not available through AdMob at all?
Can anyone shed some light on why this is not available on ios and if it's likely to become available in the future?
