*** The Telescope Reference and Astronomy Categorization Shared task (TRACS) at WASP @ IJCNLP-AACL 2025 ***

The Telescope Reference and Astronomy Categorization Shared task (TRACS) at WASP @ IJCNLP-AACL 2025 addresses the challenge of automatically linking astronomical publications to observational facilities. Telescope bibliographies are crucial for measuring scientific impact, enabling data discovery, and supporting reproducibility, but remain largely curated by hand. TRACS provides a dataset of annotated scientific papers and invites participants to build systems that detect telescope references, group papers by facility, and classify data usage into science, instrumentation, mention, or false positives. A key focus is generalization to new telescopes, ensuring broad applicability to the rapidly evolving astronomical landscape.
