Sinceupdating my computer to macOS Sonoma 14.2.1, My helvetica Neue Bold TT font shows as missing when using Indesign 2024. It is definitely installed in the Adobe Cloud. I've tried restarting, deleting font and reinstalling. Is there anything I can do to fix this issue?
Hi Debbie @ Bella , can you clarify what you mean by installed in the Adobe Cloud? Helvetica Neue is not included at Adobe Type as a subscription font, so to use Helvetica Neue Bold TT you would have to install it locally, usually in one of your system font folders.
You can check the path of the working fonts via Find/Replace Font. Open a file with the font, select the font in Find/Replace Font, click More Info, and the Path will tell you where the working fonts are stored:
The issue: When building the font looks great, but when I preview it, the letters overlap and it looks like it was translated into another language (there are accent marks over letters). I've attached 2 pictures to show that I tried using different test boxes, shapes, and font sizes, but still get the same results in preview.
I have Helvetica Neue loaded into the latest release of Storyline but instead of showing the family it only shows me light weight but when I use it the text is regular weight. It will not show more than one weight. My other colleagues have the same issue so I guess its a bug. Is anyone looking into this?
Hi Colin,
I'm sorry you're having an issue with a font not displaying as it should! I opened a support case on your behalf. You should hear from our support engineers soon to help you through this.
I am aware this is an old topic/post/thread but I'm facing the same problem.
In edit, everything is fine but when previewing/publishing, all helvetica neue bold text becomes gibberish.
Original post is 4 years old, last reply roughly 1 year.... is there a solution..?
Sorry to hear that you ran into this issue. We are still monitoring the issue where Helvetica fonts are not rendering correctly in the published output, but we'll be sure to leave a message here when we have any new updates to share. As a workaround, consider using a different font for your course. You can use Storyline 360's Replace Fonts feature to quickly switch the fonts that your course is using.
I have been using Chrome for a while now, and few days back the font rendering(I assume it is specifically for the bold fonts) began to become hollow. I tried resetting Chrome flags to default, but that did not help.
If you're using this font, I recommend just uninstalling it completely by opening your File Explorer from the Start Menu, then go to Local Disc (C:) >> Windows >> Fonts, and search for Helvetica Neue and delete it all.
There are two Helvetica Neue fonts available if you install the package otf-helvetica-neue from AUR. In LibreOffice, for example, the difference between these two is Helvetica Neue, which renders fine as regular, and HelveticaNeue which is very thin as regular. Here are the two screenshots:

Not to be a buzz kill, but but make sure you've got enough clearance at max Z height. Z calibration that hits those at the top may cause problems. Consider clipping at the the very top and backs, and displaying the names above the frame.
Yeah, I was watching for that. That's part of why 'Grace' has it centered (vertically) in the frame, which keeps it out of the way of the MMU2 hanger. They are flat enough that the Z height isn't affected- except when I had a clamp on it while the glue was drying and it was hitting the clamp.
I bet the font is Helvetica Neue (bold), it's much more accurate than FreeSans (bold). It's 100% the one used in the Prusa Research logo but the text "ORIGINAL" shows that the "G" letter doesn't match that font... I don't know if they manually changed it or if it's really another font.
I bet the font is Helvetica Neue (bold Text) , it's much more accurate than FreeSans (bold). It's 100% the one used in the Prusa Research logo but the text "ORIGINAL" shows that the "G" letter doesn't match that font... I don't know if they manually changed it or if it's really another font.
Here is why. I compared a 800x magnification of the Prusa front panel with Neue Helvetica 95 Black and 75 Bold, adjusting the cap height the same for all three. The stroke width, terminals, bowl, counter and stems seem near identical. Not exactly the same, but very close.
Professional multi-weight fonts are way to expensive for a simple non-professional project. I used the sample generator at
fonts.com, with the browser page magnified to 300%. Good enough for a simple project.
Looking back at threads others have reported this.
it was suggested that the Manager system default fonts are Helvetica neue & Helvetica neue (Bold). These are not in the latest Windows 10 so I have installed them but there is no difference.
I do not think Themes changes the screen fonts?
this maybe an issue with your Windows display settings. settings like clear text, zoom, etc can affect the way the text is displayed. you should adjust the settings accordingly.
below is a screenshot from my latest Windows version.
as you can see the digits 6 and 5 are easily distinguishable.
I have completely removed Helvecia Nueu from my computer.
In Internet Explorer - Options - Fonts. Selected, say, Cambria. (Checked that Helvecia Nueu is not listed). I have also tried Times New Roman and Calibri.
Reboot and Restart Manager - no change to screen font.
So I think the Manager screen font in my computer is now Helvecia but unable to remove this font it as it is used by Dell monitor.
Does anyone have any other ideas about how to change the manager screen font? IE does not seem to work.
Thank you.
There's a plugin called "Selection" for selecting objects with the same properties. It supports local selections inside single Artboards, Repeat Grid and groups, as well as global selection across multiple Artboards.
Yea there's a way Select a sample text. then add to "Character Styles" then right click the character style and select "Highlight on Canvas". Then right click again and click edit. You can now mass change the font. When your happy you can delete the character style.
I noticed that Adobe XD actually allows you to "replace font" if it doesn't exist, so being the kind of person that i am, i went to C://Windows/Fonts and deleted that font (faced an issue) then opened XD again, it said that X font isn't found, well good for me, i right clicked on the "font not found" message, and i clicked on replace, and boom, all gone.
@Adobe Does this feature still need more info? It's a real hassle to replace fonttypes, or even trying to find where missing fonts are located on the board. Bit weird to notify fonts are missing, but not being able to replace them. I hope you guys implement something similar as InDesign font replacement asap.
For example, I have tens of XD-files that uses "Helvetica Neue" created by Mac users. There is no (legal) way for Windows users to get this font since it's Machintosh custom system font. The closes we get is "Helvetica Neue LT Std" that for all purposes is the same font, but XD does NOT understand this, and does not map between these two fonts.
So, when I open one of these files, all the text with (Mac) Helvetica Neue is converted to Segoe UI, which of course is not an acceptable solution. To fix this I have to manually go through each fext element (thousands) and make the change to "Windows" version of Helvetica Neue.
It doesn't help either that if I have select ANY other element than a text element, the "TEXT" section dissappears from the right hand menu - making it very hard to select elements in bulk to make the change.
@Elaine: I think what we mean by Bulk Find/Change Fonts is what InDesign does. Not only does it Finds and Replaces all instances of a given font but it also automatically updates any styles that use that font.
Manually editing individual styles would not be a "bulk" find/replace font.
Hello Elaine. Thanks for the video. However, that is not what I meant to say.
The feature I am talking about allows the user to change an entire font in a document, regardless of how many components are in the document.
And now lets say that I decide to change my font to Roboto Condensed Light for all the assets with light font but not the ones with bold font. Based on your recommendation, it would take me a whole day to do this task because I would have to hunt the assets and change the font 1450 times.
Another scenario would be that I opened my XD file in a computer that does not have Helvetica Neue Light. XD would tell me that the font is missing and if I have another font in that computer that I would like to replace it with, I would have to go at it 1450 times to replace the font in all the assets I mentioned before.
In Illustrator, we can just open the Find Font dialog and change all 1450 assets to another font with like 6 clicks, and it would take about 10 seconds to happen. These 1450 assets also would keep their particular customization details like size, tracking and leading because Find Font only changes the font, not the size or other details.
