d2x cIOS Installer is a tool used to install custom IOS (cIOS) onto a Nintendo Wii. The cIOS allows the Wii to run unofficial software, such as emulators and game backups, and can also improve the performance of some games and homebrew applications.
The d2x cIOS installer is a specific version of the cIOS installer that uses the d2x cIOS, which is a custom IOS that is based on the IOS249. This cIOS is considered to be more stable and compatible than other cIOS. It is important to note that installing a cIOS onto a Wii can potentially void the warranty and may cause damage to the system if not done properly.
See here for tutorial which will guide you through the process of installing a cIOS (custom IOS) on your Nintendo Wii. This is necessary if you want to play games using a USB Loader and may also improve the performance of certain homebrew applications.
Ok, so I followed the guide on this site, installed the homebrew channel and am just installing d2x in preparation for an install of Configurable USB Loader. I have placed the folders and files into the SD card as instructed and am now at the CIOS settings part for d2x where I designate bases into a slot of my choosing.
However, now my Wiimote is not working. I cannot move up or down to select the versions and where to overwrite on what slot, nor can I exit with the b button. Whenever I press a button on the Wiimote it just flashes for a few seconds and then turns off. I've tried synching and it's using a fresh pair of batteries. So, can anyone tell me what has happened? Could I safely turn off the Wii and start again? Thanks.
Additional info #3:
I think I have pressed the A button one too many times. On the "select CIOS slot" it has a purple highlight over "249". Underneath, in NOTES it again has a purple highlight over "Warning: The IOS STUB detected in the slot 249 will be overwritten".
not sure why it freezes up, restart wii and d2x installer try again.
you could ignore the "249 stub overwrite error", it doesn't really matter what happens to slot 249, even if you put rubbish there it won't affect you in any way. you are going to install and use slot 248 and 247 anyway.
I don't think anything is messed up if you follow the guide from where you left.

This WAD selection matches up with wii.guide's cIOS installation at the time of writing, if the recommended guide changes or you are deviating from the guide for some reason, d2x installer will tell you the name of the WAD it wants, which includes the base IOS and revision. Simply follow method #2 above with the base and revision needed.
