There is an active effort underway to revitalize the Fire Instructors & Officers Association of New Hampshire! As you may know, this organization has a long history dating back to its inception in 1976 by some of the true giants of the New Hampshire fire service and was a leader in delivering training beyond certifications in the 2000s. While the Association has been dormant for about five years, we have an opportunity to come together and create a new voice to represent, mentor, and educate New Hampshire's current and next generation of fire instructors and officers. Time is of the essence as we need to formally install a current Board of Directors and appoint a new representative to the New Hampshire Fire Standards and Training Commission very quickly.
What we need to do right now:
(4 immediate action items)
1. Please join FIOANH as an active member so you can vote on association business at the annual meeting.
Step A - Complete the membership application via Google Form:
Step B - Pay the 2024 annual membership dues of $15 (the amount last voted by the membership) via the Square link:
2. Submit your availability to meet next week.
The by-laws require five days' notice of Board of Directors meetings, but do not address notice for the Annual Meeting of the corporation. In an effort of good faith, we will apply the five-day rule, so a date will need to be selected by this Wednesday, March 13 for us to be able to meet as soon as next Monday.
3. Read the current bylaws.
It's less than five pages and will help you have an understanding of how the association is supposed to be governed prior to the Annual Meeting.
4. Please help get the word out!
Talk up this effort in the firehouse, on the training grounds, and any time you run into officers or instructors who may be interested in joining us. Forward this email to the officers and instructors in your department and your network. Share social media posts to extend the reach. Send folks the links to the membership application and meeting survey so we can have as many people as possible attend and become involved!

I genuinely appreciate your willingness to get involved and help restore this organization! I have certainly benefited both career-wise and personally from my participation over the past 20+ years, and now is the time to make sure those who will follow us have the same wonderful networking and learning opportunities! Please reach out to me any time by phone, text, email, Facebook, etc. with any questions or feedback on this effort. I look forward to seeing you all at the Annual Meeting!
Respectfully,
Chris Johnson
