Hi, I started getting crackling static noise during playback after the latest Cakewalk update. Even when only one track is loaded there is still static. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling but it doesn't work. I know it's in cakewalk because playback in sforzando and Kontakt Player is normal.

Selecting ASIO instead of WASAPI seems to have done the trick for me. I didn't know what ASIO was but after some very brief research it seems all you need is WDM and my sysinfo tells me I have it so I installed ASIO4All and the static is gone so far.

I am experiencing the same thing: I installed the update (to version: 2019.11) and got static when playing back tracks with virtual instruments. Selecting MME (32 bit) as the Driver Mode under Audio -> Playback and Recording cleared it, but that caused other occasional playback hiccups. Windows 10 is my OS. The problem runs across more than one project and more than one my personal VSTs. Note: the problem does not happen with Cakewalk TTS-1 but does happen with other bundled instruments like the string section.

I think rolling back to the prior version of Cakewalk might be a good solution, assuming you can. I never used Cakewalk when it was Sonar, so I don't (at least I don't think) I have a Cakewalk account and thus can't get into the CCC. So, in my case I don't think I can. Note: the web page to migrate the forum account to a Cakewalk account comes up as 'not completely secure' in Chrome. That isn't necessarily mean the information isn't secure, but I tend to be paranoid.

I hope the folks at Bandlab can issue a hot patch (quick follow-up update) to address this. In the meantime, I guess I finish the composing work in glitchy-sounding MME-32 and then switch back to WASAPI for mixdown.

One the problem was the bad-Performance and Settings of Windows 10 for Audio-Production. Let's be honest, everybody wants to Record, Mixing & Master music using a DAW and at the same time enjoy Social Networks & Mutimedia (Facebook, Youtube, Instagram, Web Cam.. etc...) You can choose both, but you have to turn off some of caracteristics of Windows to be able performance much better the DAW's integration.. and that's what I did...

As you know I was having a lot of problems with Audio & Pugins through Cakewalk (Pops, Noise, and Crackling during Recording, Playback & Mixing) despite of have a powerful PC.. and the solution was too: I had to delete these two files (AUD & AUD.INI) C:\Users\"pc-name"\AppData\Roaming\Cakewalk\Cakewalk Core) and That's it... cakewalk regenerate automatically these files once reopen the Program.

My app plays a short beep whenever the user touches a tile. Sounds perfect. However, if the user drags their finger it will play the beep multiple times in quick succession, which works but also makes a crackling, static kind of noise. I'm trying to get rid of the crackle.

I'm relatively new to the Bluesound world. I recently kicked the dreaded Sonos into the bin and purchased two Pulse 2i Minis and a Pulse 2i Flex. So far, I am generally very pleased with sound and performance. I am planning to give my broader thoughts in a future General thread.

But: Since very recently I have an issue with one of the two Pulse Minis. After starting playback of Tidal content, it starts to produce periodic clicking sounds (appr. 50bpm). These are pretty silent but audible, if playback is stopped. The clicking continues without change. Changing the volume has no influence on the clicking.

It is a pretty puzzling situation. The two Minis are normally in a fixed stereo pair. In the second case of the clicking directly after reboot, the issue could only be resolved after the fixed group was broken, and *both* Minis rebooted, even though the second player didn't click along.

My usual setup is the two paired Minis and the Flex hooked on as well as individual player with same playback. I noticed that sometimes when my Wifi is a bit moody, the pair and the Flex loose synch. Sometimes, I also encounter stuttering playback. This can be solved by rebooting everything including router, which is a nuisance but fair enough, as it is rare.

I have the suspicion that the players have some problem with persistent data that clogs up some routines if only parts of the system are reset. I could argue with more info regarding this impression on request.

Finally, the original clicking issue appeared only after moving to BluOS 3.8.3, even though the other (rare and minor) problems where already there before. That being said, the update was so quick that I don't think the players even received substantial software modification, if at all.

Update: I'm pretty confident now that it is an issue of the individual player, after a lot of testing with various scenarios. The clicking (or rather pulsating hiss) occurs now every time shortly after the player has been reconnected or restarted.

After updating my NAD C658 and my other 12+ Bluesound devices to BluOS 3.8.3 I am getting the same clicking sound and am encountering many other issues and weird behaviour, especially when using Roon. I am a big Bluesound and NAD enthusiast, having supported Bluesound right from the start in 2013 and have never had issues like the ones I am facing after today's upgrade to 3.8.3. I will contact support separately along with player diagnostics and am sure they will find fixes to these issue sooner rather than later.

Seriously though, thanks for sharing and for the optimistic attitude. Thanks also for the support message by the crew. I am looking forward to having this solved ASAP, as Bluesound really seems to be great gear, that I have enjoyed so far very much.

Yes, I hope my optimism is justified. Generally, the Bluesound guys are very responsive and do excellent work. Having said that, I don't think these new issues will be fixed in a few days. We'll see...

- Roon did not work with the C658 anymore, or vice versa
- Player would randomly disappear, then re-appear and again disappear in the Bluesound app
- sometimes music stopped and strange clicking sounds appeared
- no output from phono stage, so could not play my records, instead the phono output produced clicking sounds
- no access to my music library (stored on a BS Vault)

Based on the information you have provided, I believe a Rebuild Index will help to resolve the issue you are experiencing with your library. The Rebuild Index option will clear out your index entirely and recreate it as if new where a Reindex simply looks for any newly added or removed files.

To perform a Rebuild Index go to Help > Diagnostics > Rebuild Index. The Rebuild will take longer than a standard Reindex but should help to correct any discrepancies in your index. Once the LED on your player returns to solid blue indicating the indexing process completing, please check your music library to see if the issue persists.

I will wait a bit, if I get a response from Sam or someone else, maybe still testing around a bit. If I don't get some conflicting advice, I will try your solution, Detlev, which sounds reasonable as networks are black magic and a sacrificial chicken nerver hurts...

For me the symptoms disappeared only for about 20 minutes. I still have the original single player (of three), that keeps returning to the clicking habits. Additionally, it has now repeatedly crashed.

Quick update: I have now confirmed that the problem also appears when using the player individually, with no groupings or other players active. Since I was asked to record the sound for the support, I did just that, realising that the clicking sound comes exclusively from the left side of the speaker array. I had noticed that before but in the meantime forgotten. The left side was affected both in a single player stereo setting and in a stereo pair right side setting.

I tend to believe that the player is somewhat broken, if only on the software side after the update maybe. Support suggests resetting all audio settings of the player and a remote session for resolving network issues, even though the latter doesn't convince me of its forensic value, yet.

The problem is now officially considered a hardware issue, which means I have to go to my local dealer unfortunately to apply for replacement (which is cumbersome, as the local Bluesound distributor rejects to handle anything that has not been bought directly at their place; making reference to the Bluesound support and its results very difficult...).

In any case thanks for being interested in this issue and big shouts to Samina from support, who invested thoughts and time to investigate the problem. I appreciate the non-generic service approach very much.

Just wanted to say that the last update (3.8.8) from Monday and a bit of fiddling around fixed the issues I have been having with my C658. No more clicking sounds, awakening from standby works without issues, Roon and MQA with Dirac switched on, everything works. Phono also plays without issues.

I was attentive, when I saw the update announcement. So I did it for all devices. Only after a few minutes of trying out the system after the update, including the faulty player, I had massive connectivity issues on the whole system. After unplugging the router and everything else, I didn't even bother anymore to reconnect the click generator.
