Hey!

Many people complained about the name, that is already used for many projects in various communities. In particular, another programming language already exists with the same name: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Q_(equational_programming_language). It's also difficult to get good results when googling "Q".

So, we are looking for a new short and friendly name. Any suggestion welcome here. I'll pay some belgian beers to the winner at first conference where we meet :-)

I suggest the name "Limn" which means: "depict or describe in painting or words".

I like it, thanks!

* Limn is available as a rubygems name (for limn-rb).
* Unfortunately, limn.io is not.
* limn-lang is not that friendly, IMHO.

Louis, Magnus, WDYT?

Honestly: I don't know.

Plus, I've always been terrible at finding names (It took us 7 years with one of my band to find a name... ;-) ).

I kinda like "Limn", but I don't like "limn-lang". Maybe is the "-lang" suffix unnecessary?

I suppose that by throwing ideas we'll find a name, eventually.

- qdl (for q-data-langage)
- qdlang
- QDDL
- finitio (latin, meaning "description", "exact description", but also "limit/restriction")

I like finitio a lot.

I'm not that fan of anything that starts with "Q". It makes it
"unpronounceable" from the beginning.

I like Finito.

Looks like a go for "Finitio". I like the translation one might gets on the web: rule, boundary, definition.

* rubygems: ok
* domain: ok
* google search: ok
* google image: nothing harsh

Without objection, I will most probably proceed.

P.S. Louis, I owe you a beer. Tomás, too, for re-launching the thread.
