Iwas working with a document, transferring it from Word to Libre office. When it asked if I wanted to save as an ODT document, over the document that already existed with that name, I thought I was just replacing the Word document with the ODT.

But in another folder, there was a document with the same name, and it saved over THAT one. Is there any way I can recover the document from the other folder that I did not mean to erase??

Although the links removed from the answers were spam, the point is valid that @Krunal1 now is engaged in a forensics operation of trying to recover an overwritten file from the disk if the backup was not enabled. I have used GPL 2+ applications TestDisk and PhotoRec for forensic recovery, both presently openly available online and (apparently) still being developed. Recovery of such data is hardly assured; often better to immediately recreate.

If you run Windows 7 you might be lucky to get the old version. In windows Explorer navigate to the file, right click on it, select Properties, select Previous Version (a Tab in the window). Windows is searching for older versions of the file. If an older version(s) shows up, select it and press the Copy button which allows you to copy the older version in a folder of your choice.

Otherwise it is necessary to try only this way:

DOC Repair Kit is a comprehensive Microsoft Word DOC repair tool with immense potential and an interface that makes the entire procedure a snap. Based on a lightning-fast proprietary core, the program knows how to repair Word DOC files in situations when other tools appear completely helpless.

We're sorry, but we don't have a version of the Support and Recovery Assistant that can be installed on a Mac. However, the Outlook for Mac scenario in the app can troubleshoot some issues that occur on your Mac even though the app is installed on a Windows PC.

When you reach the end of a scenario in the app you're shown a screen where you're asked if we fixed your problem. Select any of the top three options to have the remaining questions in the screen displayed. You can enter your feedback into the box at the bottom of the screen.

When you run the Support and Recovery Assistant to identify or diagnose a particular issue, the tool records anonymous information (Telemetry) about the actions and analysis that are performed by the tool when a scenario is run. Microsoft uses the telemetry data to improve customer experiences and to monitor the health of the application. The amount of telemetry data collected differs with different scenarios.

The log files include comprehensive information such as SessionID, TimeStamp, and Office applications on the affected system. The collected information is completely anonymous, and it does not trace back to you in any form. The following is the definition of some fields that are collected as part of the telemetry data:

When you accidentally delete Outlook items, such as email messages, calendar appointments, contacts, or tasks, you can often recover them if they are in your Deleted Items or Junk Email folders. In some cases, you can even recover items after the Deleted Items folder is emptied.

The first place to look for a deleted item, such as an email message, calendar appointment, contact, or task is the Deleted Items folder. If it's not there, you might still be able to recover it, depending on which type of Outlook you're using.

On the Home tab of the ribbon, select Move. Choose a folder from the list, or select Move to a different folder, and then choose a location from the full folder list. You can also drag messages to other folders, or right-click and select Restore.

You can also select the item and, from the Home tab of the ribbon, select Move. Choose a folder from the list, or select Move to a different folder, and then choose a location from the full folder list. You can also drag messages to other folders.

If you can't find an item in the Deleted Items folder, the next place to look is the Recoverable Items folder. This is a hidden folder, and it's the place where items are moved when you do one of the following things:

You can recover a deleted folder (together with all its messages) if it's still in your Deleted Items folder. To recover the folder, select Expand to expand Deleted Items. Locate the folder and select, hold, and drag to move it back to its proper location in the folder list.

When you recover items from the Recoverable Items folder, they are moved to the Deleted Items folder. After you recover an item, you can find it in your Deleted Items folder and then you can move it to another folder.

If you're looking for a contact, sort by the Subject column, and then look for the name of the person. You can also sort by the From column to look for blank entries. This is because contacts don't have a From field.

To recover multiple items, press CTRL as you select each item, then select Restore Selected Items. You can also recover multiple adjacent items by selecting the first item, holding down the Shift key, and then selecting the last item that you want to recover.

Each of these folders represents a specific message class. When you select multiple items and then start to move them, Outlook creates a new Outlook item that is specific to the message class of the destination folder. All the selected items that you are moving are assigned to the new item.

Select the item or items you'd like to recover by hovering over the item and selecting the checkbox next to it. If you don't see a checkbox, select and hold (or right-click) the message, and then select Move > Inbox, or choose another folder.

On the Home tab of the ribbon, select Move. Choose a folder from the list, or select Move to a different folder, and then choose a location from the full folder list. You can also drag messages to other folders.

If you don't see the deleted messages you want to recover, they have probably been permanently removed from the Deleted Items folder or Junk Email folder. We don't recommend that you use either of these folders to store your messages. If you want to store your messages in folders other than your Inbox, see Working with message folders.

For info about restoring a SharePoint file or folder, see how to restore items from the SharePoint recycle bin. For info about restoring SharePoint files stored in OneDrive, see Restore a previous version of a file in OneDrive.

If you're signed in with a work or school account, items in the recycle bin are automatically deleted after 93 days, unless the administrator has changed the setting. See more information about how long deleted items are kept for work or school accounts.

If you get an email or notification saying "[Folder name] was removed from your OneDrive" it means that a shared folder was deleted. You will not be able to restore or recover a folder shared with you. If you shared a folder with other people and they deleted its contents, you can find the contents in your recycle bin.

To restore files from your Recycle Bin in Windows, open the Recycle Bin, select the files or folders you want to recover, then right-click them and select Restore. The file or folder will be restored to its original folder.

To restore files from your Trash on a Mac, open the Trash, select the files or folders you want to recover, then right-click them and select Put back. The file or folder will be restored to its original folder.
