I found FindCurves a couple of days ago, and have already found it extremely useful. A huge thankyou to James and Ross, and everyone else who has worked on this project.

There were a couple of things that I wanted to change/fix in the code, so I've made a new repository: https://github.com/bobmyhill/pyeq3

I'm sure there are others who have also wanted to fix/add things over the last couple of years, so I wanted to ask whether anyone was interested in starting an official github project?

Either way, I'm happy to review/accept pull requests or to make reasonable changes to the code if others have requests.

Hi everyone,

Today, I have been given ownership of the pyeq3 project on pypi (https://pypi.org/project/pyeq3/) so that new releases can be published to the community.
The procedure by which ownership was transferred can be reviewed here: https://github.com/pypa/pypi-support/issues/1821
Please either reply to this message on Google Groups or email me personally if you are interested in either of the following:
  • Sharing pypi ownership so that >1 of us can create new releases (existing pypi project experience desirable but not essential)
  • Joining a pyeq3 working group on GitHub to develop the code and help review new pull requests

A bit of housekeeping:

One thing that I have done is remove the religious dedication.
I have no issue with the dedication myself, and I think people from all faiths would approve of the words from Ephesians 4:28.
However, the dedication to a particular god may be problematic for many with different beliefs or who live in less open societies than my own.

Best wishes,
Bob

Edit:
I've started a new organisation on GitHub where people can raise issues and pull requests:
https://github.com/equations-project/pyeq3
If you plan to develop the code, please use this as the upstream repository rather than my personal fork.

Bon, thank you so much. I also appreciate your kind words on the verse.

Hello Bob!

I regret to say I have been neglecting this project and just noticed it was down and that's why I'm seeing this message - I've put findcurves.com back up.

Are you hosting the site elsewhere?  I am happy to migrate to the new repo and continue to publish the site from that publicly maintained repo, I haven't had time to fulfill user requests because of my other obligations.

Hi Ross,

I'm not hosting the software anywhere. My main goals were to get the package on pypi, fix a couple of bugs and get the software working with python 3.10 (hopefully it will still be ok with python 3.11, haven't checked that yet).

If it would make maintainance easier for you, we could also add the website pages to the repo?

Best wishes,
Bob

It would make maintenance easier, I'll have to make some time soon to commit what I've done and merge that with the updates you've made.  I've not updated it since starting the site.
