Dear Panhandle Park Neighbors:

We, the artists who constructed the Panhandle Bandshell, are seeking a
short extension to our project permit from September 10 to November 15,
2007, so that it may enjoy the actual San Francisco summer months, and
more people may have the chance to experience the installation before
it goes away. The project team will continue to monitor and maintain
the installation, and at the end of our permit period, the project will
be dismantled and removed.

The project team has been working hard to upkeep the bandshell,
including daily monitoring, graffiti removal, trash clean-up, and
working with the local neighbors and police on minimizing the misuse of
the structure. This effort certainly has not been without its
challenges. But it has been worth it, as many performers have been
using the stage for performances, and passers-by have been learning
about the possibilities of reuse, repurposing and recycling, as they
enjoy the structure itself.

This proposal will be considered by the Recreation and Parks Department
Commissioners on August 16, 2007 at City Hall, Room 416 at 2pm. You
are welcome and encouraged to come voice your support or opposition to
this proposal at that meeting, and/or send your opinion to:

Larry Martin, President
Recreation and Park Commission
McLaren Lodge, Golden Gate Park
501 Stanyan Street
San Francisco, CA 94117-1898
email: recpark.c...@sfgov.org

We would very much appreciate your support of this short permit
extension. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to
email in...@panhandlebandshell.com. Thank you for your support in making
this project possible!
