no permit extension; bandshell disassembly

i'm sad to report that rec and park decided not to extend our permit
for the bandshell, despite our having the support of all the local
neighborhood groups, mayor newsom, supervisor mirkarimi, the
neighborhood parks council, RPD staff, the SFPD, and the park
gardeners. obviously, we're very disappointed with RPD's decision, but
they were doing what, as they see it, would make the neighbors (who
have a long-standing challenging relationship with RPD) happy.
this is disappointing because we were hoping to have the bandshell
enjoy the actual san francisco summer months, and to do some more
fundraising to make up our significant debt on the project. instead,
we will be dismantling her the weekend of september 7-9, targeting a
completion date of september 10th. she will enjoy cozy storage over
the winter, and we will bring her out to another park come spring
(which one and when TBD).
if anybody's willing and able to lend a hand for the disassembly
process september 7-10, please send me an email off-list, and i'll put
you on my crew list and let you know what's up. disassembly will be
fast and fun, and we could always use the extra hands.

or otherwise. all our best.
