Service with no endpoint and long running process

Is there a way to write a service that will just continuously perform a task until it is shut down? There is no need for controllers because it will just be a long running process that runs a method.

Right now the only way to write a new service is to just create something that extends HttpServer, but that seems to require controllers.

I think c.t.App will achieve what I want, and the documentation says Finatra at its core is agnostic to the type of service or application being created. It can be used to build anything based on TwitterUtil: c.t.app.App.

Is there a wrapper around c.t.app.App inside Finatra?
