Equity Research Initiative, the Flagship program of Mentored-Research, is an 8 week course designed to coach the students on the following areas:

• Working in the equity research field
• To do an educated analysis of equity securities

In operations since 2010, over 350 students from Pilani, Hyderabad and Goa campuses of BITS Pilani University have been a part of this program.

Students are taught how to analyze businesses and their respective sectors, screen for comparable companies, read financial statements, use ratio analysis techniques, and construct valuation models. Done right, this will gives students a fantastic understanding and a comprehensive insight into the business of the company and its performance relative to industry benchmarks. On the completion of the program, students are required to prepare an equity research report/stock pitch video on the company assigned to them. Students are also given the opportunity to interact and network with several finance professionals via online chat sessions.

Top performers from previous editions of ERI are selected as student mentors to guide the students through the program. Furthermore, the most efficient mentor is conferred the responsibility of the Campus Director.

Further, students who successfully complete the course will receive a certificate at the end of the program. Beyond the 8 weeks of interactive learning, such a certification will undoubtedly be a lucrative resume addition for any student inclined towards finance, investment banking, stock markets, business consultancy and related avenues.

There are no pre-requisites to this program, with the only requirements being a passion to broaden your horizons and a willingness to learn.

The program costs INR 3500/- , begins in the 1^st week of September and goes on till the last week of October. A total of around 15 to 20 students will be selected to participate in the current edition of the program. Selection is via resume short listing, followed by interviews, if necessary.
