Hi all,

In the attached .png you will find a map with all 32769 possible values for a number resolution of (15+1) bit. Depending on the effective bit depth of the source, you will find the lowest bit depth to arrive at a specific value after scaling up.

The intention is to make this to an active field histogram. This will allow to monitor the actual nuances that a digital camera can generate, or to judge the overall quality of an image. In reality the value jumps in the low lights will also be larger than in the high lights due to the internal gamma correction.

I will bring later on an active tool and extra explanation. I hope this may inspire.
Enjoy!

Paul
