Becas Chevening

Chevening is the UK government’s international scholarships programme. Funded by the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office and partner organisations, we offer awards to study in the UK for one year on a fully funded master’s degree course.

Successful Chevening candidates come from a diverse range of countries and backgrounds, but they all demonstrate the passion, vision and skills needed to shape a better world.

Eligibility

To be eligible for a Chevening Scholarship you must:

  • Be a citizen of a Chevening-eligible country or territory.
  • Return to your country of citizenship for a minimum of two years after your award has ended.
  • Have completed all components of an undergraduate degree that will enable you to gain entry onto a postgraduate programme at a UK university by the time you submit your application. This is typically equivalent to an upper second-class 2:1 honours degree in the UK but may be different depending on your course and university choice.
  • Have at least two years (equivalent to 2,800 hours) of work experience.
  • Apply to three different eligible UK university courses and have received an unconditional offer from one of these choices by the deadline listed on the application timeline.

Swiss Government Excellence scholarships for foreign scholars 2024-2025

 

Each year the Swiss Confederation awards Government Excellence Scholarships to promote international exchange and research cooperation between Switzerland and over 180 other countries. Recipients are selected by the awarding body, the Federal Commission for Scholarships for Foreign Students (FCS).

The Swiss Government Excellence Scholarships are aimed at young researchers from abroad who have completed a master’s degree or PhD.

  • Highly qualified early career scientists on postdoctoral level.
  • Primarily for scholars who have not already been to Switzerland.
  • PhD degree achieved after 31 December 2020 and before 31 July 2024 (except: ETH Zurich: 30 June 2024). PhD degree certificate completed.
  • A research proposal including a timeframe.
  • Mandatory letter from an academic host professor (including their short CV).

Any discipline.

  • The scholarship amounts to a monthly payment of CHF 3'500.
  • The scholarship amount covers the living costs of one person only.

Magíster para Países Miembros de la Alianza del Pacífico

 

El programa busca contribuir a la formación y perfeccionamiento de capital humano en países de América Latina, al promover la participación de estudiantes colombianos, peruanos y mexicanos en programas de Magíster impartidos por universidades o instituciones de educación superior chilenas.

REQUISITOS: 

El aspirante debe ser mayor de 21 años y menor de 65 años, tener un promedio mínimo de notas de pregrado de 3,7/5,0 (NO se aceptan certificados de especializaciones); contar preferiblemente con mínimo 1 año de experiencia profesional (es decir, luego de haber obtenido el título universitario) en el área del programa a realizar.

El programa está dirigido a profesionales universitarios colombianos que se desempeñen como funcionarios públicos en Ministerios o empresas públicas, así como académicos, docentes o investigadores de universidades oficialmente reconocidas y a profesionales que se desempeñen en los diversos ámbitos de la sociedad civil. Los aspirantes deberán contar con la admisión definitiva (requisito indispensable para optar a la beca) a uno de los centros docentes chilenos contemplados en esta convocatoria.

Rubros que cubre el programa

  • Tiquetes aéreos clase turista: Pago de los pasajes aéreos de ida, desde Bogotá a Santiago de Chile, y de regreso, al finalizar los estudios.
  • Matrícula: Pago del costo del arancel, matrícula y costos de titulación que cobre la respectiva institución de educación superior, por el tiempo que dure el programa de postgrado, con un tope de cuatro o seis trimestres académicos, dependiendo de la calendarización utilizada por la respectiva institución. En todo caso, deberá tratarse de costos que correspondan exclusivamente al currículum académico del programa de estudio para el cual se haya concedido la beca.
  • Estipendio Mensual: Pago a partir del mes en que el/la becario/a inicia el período de estudios para el cual se le haya concedido la beca, de una asignación mensual de manutención de quinientos sesenta mil pesos chilenos ($ 560.000) durante todo el periodo que goce de la beca. Dicha asignación se pagará exclusivamente por el tiempo que dure el programa aplicable al becario, con un tope de veinticuatro (24) meses. En los meses de diciembre, enero y/o febrero, AGCID pagará al becario el 100% de la asignación mensual únicamente en caso de que este permanezca en Chile más de la mitad del respectivo mes. En cualquier otro caso, AGCID pagará solo el 50% del monto de dicha asignación.
  • Seguro Médico: Provisión al becario, mientras la beca se encuentre vigente, de un seguro de vida, salud y accidentes, por los hechos o siniestros que le afecten y que acaezcan dentro del territorio de Chile. Adicionalmente, el becario tendrá derecho a recibir atención a través del Sistema y Servicios de Salud Pública chilenos, desde que cuente con la cédula nacional de identidad otorgada por el Servicio del Registro Civil e Identificación de Chile.
  • Asignación para Libros y Materiales: Otorgamiento al becario de una asignación única para textos y materiales de estudio, ascendente a la suma de noventa mil pesos chilenos ($ 90.000) dentro de su primer periodo lectivo del programa de estudio.

The Institute for the Study of the Ancient World (ISAW) is a center for advanced scholarly research and graduate education, which aims to encourage particularly the study of the economic, religious, political and cultural connections between ancient civilizations.   • Research subsistence grants
    • Up to £2,000 per month to a maximum of 3 months, for travel and living expenses while attending the Royal Society collections and other, nearby scholarly collections. Both international and UK based scholars are required to incorporate research at the Royal Society as part of their proposal if applying under this subsistence strand of the scheme.

  • Travel grants
    • Up to £2,000 for international travel to any relevant research destination, for short exploratory research trips (no more than 1 month) or one off event attendance. Scholars based in UK organisations can apply for this travel strand of the scheme in order to visit any relevant international research destination or event on the condition that:
      • The intended destination organisation provides written permission to access research material;
      • The period of overseas research is not more than 1 month;

      • Grant is to fund attendance of a specific, relevant event such as a conference.
    • Scholars based in non-UK organisations may only apply to travel to the UK and are required to incorporate research at the Royal Society as part of their proposal under this travel strand of the scheme.

Abstract:

The Royal Society invites applications for the Lisa Jardine grant scheme. This enables early-career scholars to exploit history of science collections, including the society's own, in support of their research in the field of intellectual history. The scheme encourages junior researchers in the humanities and arts to seek to expand their interests in history of science and related interdisciplinary studies by travelling in order to use archival resources and to build relationships with the Royal Society and other institutions. All activities must be on a subject combining the humanities and the natural sciences. This includes intellectual history, cultural history, history of science, philosophy of science, history of art, and historical geography. The scheme places special emphasis on early modern science and European networks of the period.

The fellowship includes the following benefits:

  • A free, furnished living/working studio including electricity, water and heating,

Abstract:

The Toulouse Institute for Advanced Study invites applications for its research fellowships. These enable researchers within human behaviour science to work on their research full time at the institute.
