On the solvability of some systems of integro-differential equations with anomalous diffusion
(167K, pdf)

ABSTRACT.  The article deals with the existence of solutions of a system of integro-
differential equations in the case of anomalous diffusion with the negative Laplacian
in a fractional power in two dimensions. The proof of existence of solutions relies
on a fixed point technique. Solvability conditions for elliptic operators without
Fredholm property in unbounded domains are used.

Solvability in the sense of sequences for some non Fredholm operators with drift
(133K, pdf)

ABSTRACT.  We study solvability of certain linear nonhomogeneous elliptic equations
and prove that under reasonable technical conditions the convergence in L^2 of their right sides yields the existence and the convergence in H^2
of the solutions. The problems involve second order differential operators
with or without Fredholm property, on the whole real line or on a finite interval with periodic boundary conditions. We show that the drift term involved in these equations provides the regularization for the solutions
of our problems.

A Set of Conjectured Identities for Stirling Numbers of the First Kind
(9K, latex)

ABSTRACT.  Given an integer g, g > 1, an integer w, -1 < w < g - 1, and a set of g distinct numbers, c_1, ..., c_g, we present a conjectured identity for Stirling numbers of the first kind. We have proven all the equalities in case g < 7; and for the case g = 7, provided w < 4. These expressions arise from an aspect of the study of the dimer-monomer problem on regular graphs.
