The Centre for Development Communication of DHAN Foundation is pleased
to invite filmmakers to take part in the - IV Development Film
Festival on Culture & Heritage to be held in Madurai, India in
September 25-28, 2008

If you have recently made a documentary, a short fiction film or a
television programme on the theme of Culture & Heritage that is ground-
breaking in form or content, inventive, challenging or going beyond
conventions, we are interested in screening your work. Your films may
touch upon any of the heritage dimension and need for protecting
promoting, reviving or strengthening such heritages. The themes may
include heritage and conservation, community initiatives, water works,
local governance, philanthropy, artisanal skills, celebration and
festivities, tribal culture and so on.

The Centre for Development Communication (CDC) of DHAN Foundation
works towards promoting use of information and communication as a tool
for development. Also it strives for working with print and electronic
media for highlighting development work. As a step forward in this
endeavor the CDC is organizing a Development Film Festival every
year.

The First edition of the festival focused on poverty, from a larger
perspective on water, environment, gender, education, health and
culture. The second festival focused on Water and life. The third
edition of the Festival was again focused on 'Water and People'. The
filmmakers from all over the world responded overwhelmingly in all
these festivals. The films for screening were selected by a panel
comprising of film makers, development practitioners and academicians.
Films were screened to the public of Madurai, including school and
