anyone recognize this scene?

I have some images in my head- from a film. I'm guessing it's angelopoulos (but maybe tarkovsky?)

 

an older man w/ beard walking in a thick fog by a river, with his family maybe, and gunshots maybe killing his family but you can't see...............

and maybe from the same film,

image of a the ruined façade of a white movie theater w/ an arch on the front...................

 

anyone know this film? Ulysses' Gaze?
