To Whom It May Concern:
Big Stone Gap should be filmed in Big Stone Gap! I live in California (born and raised here too) and I visit eastern KY every summer. Where ever I visit I read books of the local area. I have read all of Adriana's Big Stone Gap books and last week I visited Big Stone Gap for the first time and I will never forget the excitement that overcame me when I drove into the town and saw the Mutual Pharmacy sign. I was so impressed and excited that I can't stop talking about the experience and I can't wait to visit again next year. After I parked the car immediately I walked in the Tri State Rug shop that is mentioned in Back Home to Big Stone Gap and purchased Adriana's latest book. Then I walked down to Mutual Pharmacy took several pictures and ate at the counter in the back. Wow was that a treat. I then went around the corner to the Tolliver House and chatted with the person who ran the place and boy was he knowledgeable. "Donny", Adriana's classmate, gave me a tour of the home. Every resident I encountered was friendly and very proud of Adriana and their town. Now as I read her latest book I feel connected and I have a vivid, accurate picture of all that she writes about. The people who view her movie should have the same experience. And you know anyone who has read the books will go and see the movie. Why not use the authentic places? Adriana's settings are all real and heck the town of Big Stone Gap is very quaint and untouched by modern influences just as Adriana depicts. Hollywood sets and places other towns cannot do justice to her story because nothing can be more accurate. And the goal of every writer to make sure the reader sees what they do. The real place exists just as she describes so why not use it? I'm sure the whole town will cooperate and do whatever is necessary to make that happen. I sure hope you do not succumb to the pressures from Hollywood producers. No place could be better to use unless you plan on rewriting Adriana's book.
Please use the REAL Big Stone Gap as the primary setting for Adriana Trigiani's movie!
