Do you think Stevie was naive? I have this theory that this is her first romance since she grew up in Rotterdam and then came back to D.C.. When she talks to her cousin and friend after the dinner with her parents it's like she never had a boyfriend before. I think it's obvious her parents were loving, but were also helicopter parents. I think they kept the boys away when she was a teenager. She also invited him to move in right away. I thought this showed how desperate she was for a real relationship.

Netflix has done an okay job with its romantic movies but there definitely have been quite a few misses, especially recently. However, Love at First Sight is one of the Netflix romantic movies that gives me hope for the future of them. In fact, I hope they use this movie as a blueprint for some of the upcoming Netflix movies, especially the romance or book adaptations.
They both have reasons to fear and hide from love but they choose to take a chance. They choose each other. This gives Love at First Sight a little bit more depth than many other romantic movies on Netflix. It shows love as beautiful but it can also be tragic. The film argues that you have to continue to love despite the uncertainty of it.

Keeping up with the appeal of romantic comedies is the Kanan Gill and Ida Ursin-Holm starrer Christmas as Usual. Directed by Petter Holmsen, this Indian-Norwegian love story remains one of the best holiday romance movies to be released on Netflix in December 2023.
