Dear Librarian/Information Officer:

Electronic Information Solutions, Inc. (EISI), in cooperation with the University of the Immaculate Conception-Davao City is pleased to invite you to the 16th Machine Readable Cataloging (MARC21) Workshop with CPE Units on November 27 to 28, 2009, Friday and Saturday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. at the 2nd Floor, UIC Main Library, Fr. Selga St., Davao City.

We believe quality data is essential to a successful library automation project.  We also believe that if today’s cataloging activities are geared towards the production of machine-readable records, a lot of savings can be realized when the library finally decides to automate. As part of our commitment to fully equip librarians and information professionals with skills and techniques needed to automate their libraries, we have developed a two-day curriculum to introduce librarians to MARC 21 so they will be able to produce quality records suitable for library automation.

Our new MARC21 Workshop Reloaded series includes two days of intensive training. The first day features MARC21 Bibliographic Format and is the same as our previous one-day MARC21 Workshop series. The second day includes a new set of topics on the MARC21 Authority Format. Also includes an overview of RDA (Resource Description and Access), a new standard that will be the successor of AACR2.

This workshop has the following objectives: 1. To educate the participants to the future direction of libraries in surviving the present challenges of net, online technologies and prepare them to become innovative. 2. To provide knowledge for licensed/non-licensed librarian about Marc and apply it as a standard for entering bibliographic information.

Workshop fee including lunch & snacks, computer time and training materials is at P 3,500 for two days or P 1,750.00 for one day.  Participants may attend for one or both days depending on their interest.  Attached is the program for your reference.

Please confirm your participation on or before Monday, November  23, 2009 by sending us thru courier, e-mail or fax (632)325-0027 the attached reply slip.  Should you need further information, please contact Ms. Naidz Abragan (ser...@aklatan.net) at telephone nos. (632) 843-6571 / 845-3507 or Sr. Ma. Bernardita Robles, RVM, UIC Director of Libraries (ber...@yahoo.com), at telephone no. (082) 221-8090.
