As you know, the UP School of Library and Information Studies (UPSLIS)
is celebrating its Golden Anniversary this year. As part of the
yearlong celebrations, the UPSLIS will be taking part in the UP
Diliman Christmas activities as well as having activities of our own.
Below is the list of upcoming Christmas Activities of the SLIS:
December 9, Friday, morning – Parangal para sa SLIS 2011 LLE Board Passers
All board passers are encouraged to attend. Our way of thanking you
for making us happy this year.
December 9, Friday, 7pm, Freedom Bar – UP BLC ROCK NIGHT
Rock the night away and celebrate on Dec 9th in Freedom Bar. Gates
open at 7pm. Php100 entrance (inclusive of 1 drink)
December 14, Wednesday, 3-7pm, SLIS rooms 3 and 4 – SLIS Students
Christmas Party!
The return of the much-awaited SLIS BEBOT competition. Be there.
December 15, Thursday, 1pm – A Happy Golden Party
SLIS Faculty and Staff Christmas Party. Come in Gold to celebrate our
Golden Anniversary.
December 15, Thursday, 5:30pm – “Sa Letrang S” the SLIS Bingo Bonanza.
One card valid for all 5 Games and the raffle, PhP50 per card. Part of
the proceeds will go to the SLIS Bulding Fund. Tickets available from
the SLIS office and UPLSAA officers.
December 16, Friday, 4pm – UP Diliman Lantern Parade
This year we will be joining the lantern parade with a big birthday
cake lantern to celebrate 50 years of UPholding the Tradition of
Excellence in LIS Education. Everyone is invited to march with us:
faculty, staff, alumni and students. It’s a show of UPSLIS force, a
show of support for your college. Wear white SLIS t-shirts. Join us!
December 16, Friday, after the Lantern Parade – Post-Lantern Get-Together
Since all of us in the SLIS family will already be there in UP Diliman
to lend our support, join us for a small get-together organized by
your college, the alumni and students. Food will be handled by the
UPLSAA, feel free to bring some too for sharing.
Thank you to the UPLSAA, SLIS-SC, UP FLIPP, UPLISSA and UP BLC for
making all of these possible.

The application period for the Masters Program is usually from Feb to April.

As far as scholarships are concerned, there are different ones
available. I don't have a list available with me at the moment. Plus
the availability and the requirements / conditions vary from time to
time (region of birth, parents in govt service / military, association
membership, etc.).

They vary from sem to sem and from scholarship offering to scholarship offering.
As of yesterday, these were the ones that were routed to the UP units.

I also believe that the different professional organizations offer scholarships from time to time.
