I tried to use the bronze filament i purchased at the Milwaukee Maker Faire and it continually broke while feeding it through the tube. Once I was able to get it fed it broke in multiple places inside the tube causing a huge clog resulting in a complete hot end tear down. I was super excited to try this and it make work great with a direct drive extruder but it just seems to brittle for a bowden setup.

I use a Ultimaker 2+ with a bowden tube and the 2.85mm copper filament. I also have problems with breaking, but usually out side of the extruder. I find the problem is with retraction. Try reducing the retraction, mine was pre set to 6.5mm at 25mm/s, once i reduced it to 1 mm at 1mm/s that helped. Next i try and on roll the material and have it hanging straight before it feeds into the bowden tube that really seems to help.I also use standard PLA settings and a 0.4 nozzle.
