These products store image data temporarily to the internal hard drive while scanning. This image data is immediately deleted upon complete delivery of the scanning job. In the event of a system failure which causes the application to abnormally terminate, all cached data is deleted upon the restarting of the Scan Station application.

Customer image data may persist in non-volatile memory in the operating system paging file. Any image data that is cached in the paging file is deleted when the system is shut down as part of the shutdown sequence. Non-volatile memory is cleared at the end of each scan job, and again when the device is started. Scanner settings - which can include network authentication credentials (user name and password), Scanner Configuration, and Destination Configuration data are all stored in encrypted form in non-volatile memory.

I have a Kodak scan station 500(Its older) that was scanning to an old file server (Hp\Server 2003). It workedfine and was fast doing the scan and then saving the pdf it made tothe network location. I switched the scanner to a new file server (Hp\Server2012 r2) and the scanner still can make a pdf on a network share on it, but ittakes almost a minute during the "saving" phase on the scanner.

Everything else networking wiseis totally fine. I do not have nic teaming turned on. The pdfs are tiny 3kbgive or take. No antivirus. All domain joined. I updated the scanners softwareto try to fix it and it is still slow. While I scan to the old server and itsinstantaneous. Both gig'd connections. Permissions should not be an issue, itstill can make the pdf on the share. I find myself wondering ifthis is something to do with old smb vs new? Any thoughts?

Possibly auditing going on for that share or something odd, like you said. I would just delete the share, recreate it as a vanilla type share and try to point the scan station to that new share. Maybe create a new share with a new name on a different folder or drive on the server and try it to the new location. Good luck!

I found out something interesting. When I put \\servername\C$ in the scanner and run it the document saves instantly. When I use any share, I have created many of them in different ways and locations, it is slow. It appears to me like this server has some kind of issue with shares. Remember that it is only this server. I can scan to 2 other servers and it is instantaneous as well, one of which is identical OS and physically.

Currently have a a Kodak 730ex scan station that will not boot properly. It just goes to a black screen. Can see mouse moving about, nothing else. Can get it to boot into bios but device has an unknown password that Kodak support will not devulge.

I recently bought a Kodak Scan Station 520EX, because I want to go paperless (scanning all my old documents and then getting rid of them). I had a fujitsu fi-5110C before, but I was quite unhappy with the paper feeder.

I would highly appreciate it if some one could share the software/firmeware of the Kodak Scan Station 520EX. The Kodak Scan Station 520EX is actually identical to the Kodak Scan Station 500, so the software of the latter should be fine as well. Just fyi, the scan station came with a windows xp embedded sticker/key so no issue on that side.

Features
Including "Kodak Perfect Page" image processing technology with iThresholding, the KodakScan Station 700 allows you to scan even poor quality documents at maximum speed and obtain excellent image quality.

As far as I know, Kodak i4850 has the option to integrate with ISIS driver so it should work well with Laserfiche ScanConnect. Kindly appreciate if anyone can confirm me with it and share some experience with me if you have used Kodak i4850 or any newer Kodak scanner. Thank you!

If you do have to use ScanConnect/ISIS, while I don't see that specific model on the Laserfiche ScanConnect 8.3 Supported Scanners list, many other Kodak models are. The list hasn't been updated in almost three years and should be interpreted as "what we had the opportunity to test with" rather than "only scanners on this list work". The more up to date Supported Scanners list shows that we certified the Kodak i4600 with ScanConnect back in 2010. I'm guessing that's a predecessor in the same hardware family that plausibly shares a driver lineage with the i4850.

Ergonomics
The Kodak Scan Station 710 can scan and send documents at the touch of a button. From one scan, you can simultaneously send a document to the network, to e-mail, to print, to fax, to FTP and can be used to scan into Microsoft Sharepoint enviroments. Scan profiles can easily be created and accessed via the touch screen. The Kodak Scan Station 710 also features remote administration allowing you to manage a fleet of installed Scan Station 710 scanners from one place. (updates, configuration, etc.). The application is easy to use and intuitive: create and manage lists of scanners, display and manage statuses, etc. The "Voice Attachment" function offers voice management, enabling users to send audio messages containing comments or instructions with scanned documents, to ensure clear communication. This feature is very useful in that it avoids having to type messages on the touch screen.

The scanner is also packed with image processing functions: deskew, cropping, blank page removal based on document content, automatic document orientation based on direction for reading, etc. The Kodak Scan Station 710 also guarantees the security of your files and their transmission with various security features: PDF private key encryption, optional password access, option to enable/disable the ability to scan to portable USB drives, secure login via LDAP, activity logging by Login ID, IP port blocking. What is more, the scanner enables you to track user transactions, configure frequent job settings and destinations, scan in preview mode, etc.

With this done, your next job is to create profiles for standard scan operations. You can select colour or greyscale, pick a resolution (up to 600dpi), choose between simplex and duplex scanning, and optionally apply advanced processing such as deskew, blank page detection and ultrasonic jam detection. The scanner can even recognise barcodes and read text from specific regions on each page: to set this up, you simply load in a sample document and draw boxes around the areas you want to check.

If you want to restrict certain operations to individual users, you can either create groups of imported Active Directory users or manually add your own user list; when staff log in, they can access the screen buttons or switch to a standard menu for manual scans.

The Scan Station 730EX Plus may seem pricey, but it compares well to the combined cost of a high-speed USB scanner and a host PC. And what you get is a smarter solution, offering great speed, quality and security in a single, easily managed appliance.

The solution was FileBound document management software combined with a Fujitsu ScanSnap scanner. The FileBound software is the interface for document management, while the scanner transfers documents to a digital format.
