I have been experiencing the same problem with a Samsung Galaxy S2 and a BT yahoo account, namely can receive but not send email. After many unsuccessful variations on POP3/IMAP and port combinations the following finally seems to have worked:
I recently acquired an Alcatel PIXI UNITE smartphone from TracFone (April 2017). It uses Android 6.0. I use an att.net email address and when I let the regular email app add that email account I could receive email but never send it. My email would always end up either in the Outbox or in Drafts. And I could not send the mail from there either. There is currently some kind of craziness going on with Yahoo ATT mail. But the trouble seems to have been fixed (at least for now) by going into Settings (for the email account) and changing part of the default outgoing SMTP server settings. The default setting was: android.smtp.mail.yahoo.com. What I finally discovered after days of trial and error was simply to delete the "android." from the default and bingo!
Unsure if this is a widespread issue or not, but I began to notice the last Yahoo mail update in the Google Play Store broke the app. I currently use Motorola Android phones with Android 11. Basically, what happens is that there is an indefinite mail syncing notification every time the app opens. I'm assuming this is also occupying RAM and draining my battery. The only consistent way to correct the issue seems to be forcing the app to stop. Usual copy/paste tech support rep workarounds like uninstalling and reinstalling after a device reset have not proven effective. I've sent multiple feedback messages to Yahoo, posted a negative review in the Google Play Store, and nothing has changed as of this post.
It is rare, but still, many users use the standard mail application instead of using modern-day mailing apps like Gmail. So, in case you are someone who uses the old standard mailing application on your Android phone and want to log in using Yahoo mail, then you must perform these steps:
I have created an email template that is tested to work properly on desktop clients like gmail/yahoo/outlook and also tested correct responsive behavior on mobile gmail app. I am using Android/Galaxy S4.
The responsive styles are not effective on yahoo mobile app. Infact, it is not reading the CSS rules from 'style'. Though, desktop chrome set to mobile views (using Inspect -> toggle device toolbar) and logging in to yahoo mail shows the email reading the responsive styles.
I had an update today on my Samsung tablet through the Google Play store and now suddenly I can't use my Yahoo email. It was working fine this morning. Every time when I do get it to come up and if I click on anything it goes blank. No issue on my Android phone nor on desktop on my PC. I really don't want to use the Yahoo app because I did that years ago and did not like it. I did try clearing cache, turning off the tablet and turning it back on and tried to use another tab after x-ing out of the one I was using. Anyone have any ideas about what I can do to get my Yahoo email page to come back? Thank you, Betty J.
I hope I'm getting this right because I'm not much into the technical stuff. Firefox version 88.1.3, standard or default Enhanced Tracking Protection and no add-ons. I also uninstalled it and reinstalled it but it's still the same. It's just weird that my Android phone is fine but not the tablet. Just to let you know it's a Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite Android version 11. All other web sites work fine except for Yahoo mail which is just a blank white page. Thank you in advance for any help you can give me. Betty J.
I can see the deleted emails on the lap top but not my phone! I know it is hard to believe but I have on occasion deleted an email I wanted to keep. I can not go to the delete folder and return it to the inbox because both my delete and spam folder are always empty when I view them on my phone!! I must of changed a setting sometime ago but I have no clue how or where to get it to work again! Any help you can give me will be very welcome ?
But Apple's war with Google and Microsoft is heating up. Apple islosing device market share to Android devices, and when Apple's business model is built around device sales, this market share is central. As increasing numbers of smartphone buyers base their buying on e-mail and software integration, a Yahoo acquisition might be just the trick for Apple to counter Google.
Mayer has made mobile services one of her top priorities since defecting from a top job at Google to become Yahoo's CEO nine months ago. She has already overseen a redesign of Yahoo's email app for smartphones, as well as the app for its Flickr photo service on the iPhone and iPad.
