Hi all,

Let's use this discussion to list food items that Figwee is missing.

We know that Asian food is not yet well represented, but this is in
process.

Anything you like to eat we don't yet have?

Thanks,

-Jeff

Good Morning - This is my first day on figwee. I am excited about the
possibilities of the website and look forward to future success with
it. I am a pesco vegetarian. I eat a lot of soy products as well as
seafood. I have not found any of the soy products I eat on the
website. Morningstar, Boca, Korn, etc. are brand names of popluar soy
based products and their products should be added to this website.

To piggyback on my prior comment. The ability to include nutritional
facts from the foods we eat would be very helpful. It would be nice
if we could input information from the labels on the foods we eat, and
to be able to drop in the quantity/portion size we consumed.

When talking to family, they said that they didn't see cocoa pebbles,
sweet and sour chicken, or sugar cream pie.

Some other foods I noticed that weren't on your list were microwavable
frozen (breaded and grilled) chicken patties, fried rice, macaroni AND
cheese, and boneless, skinless chicken breast that is fried or boiled,
rather than baked. I'm just playing around with the food list and
typing in foods that I thought two days ago were yummy. After seeing
my initial calorie intake, I'm not really sure that I want to see what
I had been eating! :o)

Hi,

I will be adding these foods over the next week or two. Some things
(like Mac and Cheese) we have already, but something has happened to
them. Thanks for the heads up!

Along the lines of queenaznsupreme's post, I notice there is a "my
foods" section. I was wondering what it's purpose is. Is there some
way for us to enter specific foods we eat regularly for our own
accounts, or is is simply a place to save commonly eaten foods found
on Figwee's database?

Also, I noticed what looks to be a Weight Watcher's link on the
homepage. Is there a way to convert the nutritional info into to
Points?

As far as foods not listed, so far all I have had a problem finding is
reduced fat peanut butter, but I have only been using the site for a
couple of days.

Keep up the great work!

Hi eeky,

Thanks for the questions. As of today, My Foods is both where you can
save foods you commonly eat for quick access, and where you can add
your own foods. To add your own food, click on the "star" button at
the top of the My Foods panel, or there is a new link in the food
search dialog. You can also edit the nutritional information for any
of our food items by adding them to My Foods. To do this, add the food
to My Foods, then right click on it and choose "Edit Nutrition
Info...". Note too, that you can rename anything in My Foods so that
it makes more sense to you, and renaming also allows you to impact the
sort order.

We have the ability to display WW points, but it looks as though we
will not be able to do so from a legal standpoint, at least not for
now. Unfortunate. We will have to take that off the home page.

We will add the reduced fat peanut butter, thanks.

Appreciate your help.

Best Wishes,

-Jeff

Oracle points out that we need 12-grain bread added to the system.

Jeff, figwee is pure brilliance! I'm a new user and I love it!
I do have some suggestions, as I live in Hawaii and we have lots of
Asian/other ethnic food...I know it's a lot but if they could be added
slowly and surely I'm sure people would appreciate it. I'll also
mention some other random foods that I looked up and didn't find.
How about some bok choy, choy sum, stir fries, more kinds of sushi,
manapua, spam musubi, chicken musubi, various bentos, orange chicken,
chicken katsu, teriyaki beef, butterfish, chow mein, crack seed, dim
sum, gau, mochi, jook, li hing mui, more kinds of tofu, lau lau, poi,
haupia, chicken long rice, fried rice, kalua pig, kulolo, lomi lomi
salmon, poke, Russian tea cakes, creme brulee, macademia nuts,
chocolate-covered macademias, somen salad, shrimp tempura, corn potato
chowder, chocolate truffles, spinach quiche, casseroles, salmon
patties, crab cakes, loco moco, grilled cheese sandwich, tuna melt
sandwich, and saimin. The veggie burgers and yogurt that someone
mentioned earlier would also be helpful. Wow, that was a lot. Sorry
for dumping all that all at once...but you know, I like this site a
lot, so I'll probably be back!
Thanks!

Hi Ame,

This list is great, and exactly what we need. Thank you. I know John
and crew have a batch of about 200 more foods in process which include
some Asian dishes, but I would bet that there are several things in
your list that we need to add to our radar. Will do.

Thanks again,

-Jeff

Hi,

about half of the foods you mentioned are already in the works. I
will try to add the rest as soon as possible. However, some things
you mentioned are already on the site.
One of the things we are also working on is a system for alternate
spellings. A trick that I use that could help in the meantime is to
only enter a few characters for the food you are looking for instead
of spelling it out entirely. This lessens the chance that you'll find
a misspelling on our part (or the fact that many foods have multiple
accepted spellings.) For example, if you just type mac you should
find the nuts. I almost never type more than four or five characters
for any food.

It is our mission to get as many unique foods as possible, and your
list is extremely helpful. Thank you for taking the time to list
them. We will try to add everything we can from it.

Cheers,

John

I found 2 things that might be good to add to the list. Pork
tenderloin, and teryaki sauce.

Thanks! I tried your trick to find foods, and it makes sense. I then
had a bit of fun trying to see what foods would turn up. Figwee is so
cool.

Hot and sour soup, meat jun, fish jun, fig bars. :) Although the bars
I eat aren't Newtons--they're some specialty thing I get at a co-op,
and I really should look up the nutrition facts. They're quite brown
and fibrous, and I love them, but I have a feeling they should only be
an occasional treat...
Thanks,
Ame

Well, this is quite fun keeping a running list of foods, even if I
have a feeling I'm getting a bit annoying. Sorry about that.
Canned mushrooms, frozen spinach, arare (AKA kakimochi), different
kinds of peanut butter (including chocolate, yay).
