Hi guys,

I had a thought, when I finish the upgrade to V1.1.0 of the firmware, I could make two changes to the software serial code. Firstly I could make the baud rate a variable instead of fixed ( we need two bytes for the rate and rate fraction). This would mean that the baud rate could be set to 31250, I.e. the MIDI baud rate,

Secondly, I could check the transmission conditions so that the serial code doesn't send characters when it would conflict with video, I.e. when video generation is going on and the baud rate is above 9600. (In text mode there's time to send chars at 9600 even during video scanning).

With these changes; a MIDI output port connected and a sequencer written for FIGnition, we have a ZX Spectrum 128 style MIDI machine :-)

Sounds like fun to me, what do you think?

Cheers Julz

Dayum! That sounds like a blast. Could probably make a cracking drum sequencer with it!
