As the National Governing Body for cricket in the United States, USA Cricket is responsible for ensuring that there is an appropriate standard of coaching at all levels across the country and enough coaches with the relevant skills and resources as required.

With more cricket being played than ever before at all levels of the game, the need to identify, train and develop coaches has become increasingly important, and USA Cricket are committed to making this happen.

This is a list of Indian national cricket team coaches. India is a full member of International Cricket Council since 1926 and played its first test match on 25 June 1932 becoming the fifth country to do so. In November 2021, Rahul Dravid became the head coach of the Men's team after succeeding Ravi Shastri, who held the longest tenure.[1] Amol Mazumdar was appointed the coach of the Indian women's team in October 2023.[2]

India won the 1983 Cricket World Cup under the captaincy of Kapil Dev when PR Man Singh was the coach.[3] In 2007, India won the inaugural T20 World cup under Dhoni when Lalchand Rajput was the coach.[4] In 2011, they won the ODI world cup for the second time under Dhoni when Gary Kirsten was the coach.[5] India has also won two Champions trophies in 2002 and 2013 when coached by John Wright and Duncan Fletcher respectively.[6][7]

One to one coaching sessions changed from machine and throw down drills to open net style sessions based far more on a holistic approach to batting where we would work on building game sense and technical effectiveness over perfection. My style was leaning this way already, the Sidearm both made it possible to achieve and sped this process up.

My coaching life would be significantly harder and I would be much less effective without the Sidearm. We have five at West and I encourage everyone to practice it, especially the non-bowlers. There are several Western Warriors who are working on it too. I am getting a few disciples.

If Game 1 and practice does not help then pupils can Play Game 0. This is a game that still focuses on the behaviour required in Game 1 but with less decision making and complexity. This is brought about usually by changing the rules of the game or modified the equipment.

This can end up with a very chaotic lesson with children moving between games, from game to practice and back again and from more less complex games to more complex games back into Kanga cricket to see if what they have learnt has been trasnferred. All the time this is driven by their reflections and answers to the questions we posed. It requires a huge amount of judgement by the teacher and I have realised that I am a very long way off from this, especially in cricket as my previous teaching me has protected me from this level of decision making.

Bradburn has been Head Coach of the Pakistan national cricket team throughout 2023 following roles as Head of High-Performance Coaching at the National Cricket Academy in Lahore and as an Assistant Coach with the national side from 2018.

Bradburn played seven Test matches and 11 One Day Internationals for New Zealand between 1990 and 2001 before moving into coaching, becoming the Northern Districts Head Coach in 2008. Leading them to two Plunket Shield four-day titles and two Trophy one-day titles over five years in charge. He subsequently took charge of the New Zealand A and U-19 teams between 2013 and 2014, before being named as Scotland's Head Coach from 2014 to 2018. During that time, he coached Scotland to a historic first victory against England in a high scoring One Day International in 2018.

My simple aim is to create a winning environment with an awesome culture. Together, we will quickly identify a brand of cricket in all formats that most importantly inspires the players and, in turn, attracts everyone within the club to be excited and proud of our teams.

With International experience and a passion for developing players and staff, I am really looking forward to immersing myself alongside our Glamorgan network of coaches to develop quality players within our programmes. I will bring fresh eyes which I believe will be healthy for the Club.

Back when I was doing my ECB coaching award we were practicing leg spin under the watchful eye of our coach tutors. I'll be the first to admit I make no claims as a bowler, let a lone leg spin. Suffice to say, I was pretty poor, even with a tennis ball in a sports hall.

With any coach the first thing to check is his coaching qualifications. Nowadays there is no excuse not to have the officially recognised coaching award for the country you are in. Here in the UK the ECB provide a Level 2 award which is the minimum you should look for. The Level 1 is a coaching assistant and is an important position for clubs with groups to coach it does not give a grounding for coaches wanting to work with senior players or with juniors in a one-to-one environment. If you want that, go for level 2 or higher.

The qualifications alone are no sign of a good coach though. The ECB award ensures the coach meets the minimum requirements. You want somebody a little better than the minimum and that's where experience comes in.

Ideally you want a coach who has done both: Played at your level to understand and coached others to transfer that understanding to you. If you have to choose I would go for the more experienced coach, even if he/she has not played at your level.

Every coach is slightly different and some will suit you better than others. Find out what a coaches philosophy is. You can ask them directly and you can poll other people who have been coached by them. Philosophy points include:

The last one is a big one. A coach who is always tweaking your technique may suit you but it will drive most people mad. You might like to have a laugh more or get down to business more. If you are working in a team, how does he or she keep respect and control?

Qualifications, experience and philosophy are the most important things you can find out about your coach. Even if you have little choice and the coach you get is the one who turns up to coach you, it's important to know these things.

If you do you will have a better insight into what the coach wants and be able to get more from your time together.

Our team coach was a full time, professional coach for Canterbury cricket, but had a terrible personality, yet his 'apprentices', having much better personalities improved our team significantly and we started performing a LOT better.

Our Grassroots cricket program is offered in the fall, spring and summer seasons. It consist of and 8 week program designed to teach the fundamentals of cricket in a fun and instructional way. Each week will consist of 1 practice (weeknight) and 1 modified practice/game Saturday. As the season progresses players will understand and master the fundamentals of cricket.
