Quite a few questions about this so I figured I'd announce it here instead of in each thread individually.

Since our old API key system was tied to Sunlight we've temporarily removed the API key restriction from the API.  We'll update the site shortly to reflect this change.

Old API keys will still work and should you need a new key please use an email address that we can reach you at as your key for now.  Make sure it is a valid email address so that we can contact you when we're ready to start requiring API keys again.

James,

Thanks for the response. Since the API restriction is temporary it might not be worth it to update the API wrappers, but at least to make a note of it. As for the moment, these Python libraries, Julia packages, etc. will not be working without a functioning API key. Will be writing my scripts to use the API directly for now.

Thanks!
JBSC

Ah to clarify, nothing should break, you can still pass an API key (or your email address).
