That's a crock, Bob. During the primary campaign, members of the same party
are vying for the lead and the chance to face the opposition party. The RIGHT
thing to do when one emerges as the winner, is for the losers to back them up
as the party representative in the general election. Or are you trying to tell
us that you prefer balkanization of the election process?

What did I use it to excuse? Missing Stan's one
"reasoned debate" post? His one post where he didn't
refer to someone he didn't like as a "lisping buffoon?"
Sorry, Gary's claim that such a post exists isn't enough
to justify the effort.

He has made two.

He posted it again.

Since you seem to think I am lying, here is one of his, second reply
down the stream:

SH>SH>>again, Janet Reno will ignore that recommendation. Has the
SH>SH>>Justice Department been politicized into irrelevance? What's
SH>SH>>the point of having a task force at all if you uniformly
SH>SH>>disregard its recommendations?

SH> GB> There seems to be little doubt there should be a special
SH> GB> prosecutor in this case. Maybe the head of the Justice Dept.
SH> GB> should be appointed for life, free of political
SH> GB> considerations?

SH>I would rather that the AG be accountable to someone. In the event of a
SH>corrupt AG, who would prosecute and remove him under your plan? Perhaps the
SH>House Judiciary Committee could make a recommendation to be approved or
SH>rejected by the Senate Judiciary Committee.

Sounds good to me and they could police him as well.

SH>SH>>We are in the middle of a presidential election in which the
SH>SH>>vice president should probably be 20 points up in the polls.
SH>SH>>Yet, he now trails his opponent by double digits is some
SH>SH>>polls, and there is a credible third-party candidate who may
SH>SH>>take votes from him. Why is Gore behind? Maybe a better
SH>SH>>question is, why is Bush ahead?

SH> GB> Gore has little to no charisma and flip flops on a weekly
SH> GB> basis. Gore is also the victim of Clinton fatigue. I could
SH> GB> probably run against Gore and win.

SH>I read this morning that Gore is trying to bolster his support with
organized
SH>labor. While he may be able successfully to court the leadership, I suspect
SH>that he has lost a good deal of the membership. Not sure what that's worth
SH>really, with union membership continuously waning.

The Teamsters and one other union were not on the Gore boat yet and
considering how Clinton turned his back on unions in the past, Gore may
inherit the enmity.

I am thinking unions may make a comeback, but not in traditional fields.
I am thinking they might come back in the IT field. People are literally
being worked to death, being plucked back in the middle of vacation out
of country even.

SH>SH>>More broadly speaking, all three networks and CNN have seen
SH>SH>>their newscast ratings tank. At the same time, websites like
SH>SH>>Free Republic, Newsmax and Lucianne.com have taken off (a
SH>SH>>concept known in journalism schools as "narrowcatch"). What
SH>SH>>are the implications of this trend?

SH> GB> People can get their news and entertainment when they want,
SH> GB> not when the networks want.

SH>Very liberating. And it's not just a matter of when, but what.

True, you can tailor make your news to themes you are interested in.
